Pity your wives, Aisha Buhari begs Nigerian men

Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, has urged Nigerian men to “have feelings for their wives” instead of abandoning them in their times of trouble.

The first lady was speaking on in Abuja on Friday while personally distributing gifts to patients at the Kubwa General Hospital.

“I am here today to tell you that we do not forget you. We have you in mind,’’ she said, adding that she had chosen to share gifts with people who would have preferred to be celebrating in their homes, but were in the hospital as a result of different  ailments.

She looked happy for most of the visit but she became sad when she found Hellen Agada, a woman whose husband abandoned her after her admission to the hospital for multiple operations.

“I am not happy when I meet a lady who had several operations and her husband ran away and left her,” she said. “I think men should have feelings for their wives.”

She urged men, as heads of the family, to support their wives and always remain firm as the pillars of the home, not minding the trials or tribulations.

Mohammed Bello, minister of federal capital territory, promised to improve the standard of hospitals in Abuja. He described the president’s wife as a great woman with passion for Nigerians and the health sector, and praised her for visiting the hospital.

“I am happy for the visit. You can see the happiness reflected on the faces of the patients and staff because of the gifts given to them for Christmas,” he said.

“I pray to God to empower you so that you can continue to do more in restoring happiness to the lives of the people.”
