Age is no longer a barrier for Issa Hayatou’s desire to stay on as president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) who voted on Tuesday to remove an age limit on its officials.
At the body’s 37th congress in Cairo, all the 54 member countries agreed to change the statutes that previously stopped officials serving beyond the age of 70.
The removal has now paved the way for Hayatou, 68, to be able to stand for another term in office in 2017.
His current tenure ends in 2017 and he is seeking four more years until at least 2021, when he turns 75.
