The Policy Monitoring and Accountability Foundation (PMAF), an organisation of business leaders, has passed a vote of confidence in Zacch Adedeji, the executive chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

Speaking at a meeting in Lagos on Monday, Kolawole Samson, the group’s coordinator, said Adedeji has prioritised ordinary Nigerians in the administration of FIRS.

Samson added that the FIRS chairman has improved the country’s tax system by creating an environment supporting Nigeria’s progress.

“Dr. Zacch is exactly the kind of leader Nigeria has been waiting for. Honest, diligent, and always putting the needs of ordinary Nigerians first,” Samson said.

“Since his appointment, we have seen many improvements within the agency.

“FIRS has gone beyond being just a revenue-generating body. It has become a symbol of effective governance, a role model that other Nigerian agencies should emulate.

“We’ve seen a real change in his administration. The man doesn’t just talk; he delivers. He’s made sure the staff feels appreciated and treated fairly.

“The recent salary increment and transparent, performance-based promotion system show his commitment to improving their lives. It’s no surprise to see the staff so excited online recently. This is leadership we can truly be proud of.

“FIRS has already pulled in over N18.5 trillion in revenue, getting close to the N19.4 trillion target.

“This just shows Dr. Zacch knows his work well. It’s not just about hitting big figures; it’s about creating a system that supports Nigeria’s progress and keeps things running smoothly for everyone.”

The group praised Adedeji’s efforts in addressing inequities in Nigeria’s revenue distribution system through the tax reform bill.
