‘He did his best’ — Remi Tinubu pays tribute to Akeredolu

Remi Tinubu, wife of the president, has mourned the death of Rotimi Akeredolu, late governor of Ondo state.

Akeredolu died on Wednesday at the age of 67, following a protracted battle with prostrate cancer.

In a statement by Busola Kukoyi, her media aide, Tinubu said Nigeria has lost one of its great men.

The first lady, who was at the Ibadan residence of the Akeredolus, noted that the deceased fought gallantly to stay alive but every human existence is subject to the will of God.

“He did his best. God will be there for you, when God shows up for you, that is what really matters,” she said.

She urged Betty, the deceased wife, and the family to take solace in God and trust in him alone at this trying time.

Responding on behalf of the family, Oluwole Ayodeji, brother of the deceased, said Akeredolu’s death was a painful one but the family is consoled by the fact that he has gone to rest.
