The Niger chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that Babangida Aliyu, former governor of the state, donated funds to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In March, the PDP in Chanchaga LGA of Niger had suspended the former governor for “working against the election success” of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday in Minna, the state capital, Yahaya Usman, spokesperson of the party in the state, said Aliyu remains suspended over alleged anti-party activities.
Usman said leaders of the PDP in the three senatorial districts of the state have reaffirmed their support for the suspension of the former governor.

“We now support Rivers governor, Nyesom Wike, who said that former Gov. Aliyu owed the PDP an apology for admitting that he undermined the party in the 2015 elections,” Usman said.
“We have been vindicated; we had told Nigerians that Dr Aliyu betrayed us and worked for the ruling APC during the elections.
“He betrayed the party, betrayed former President Goodluck Jonathan and also betrayed our governorship candidate, Alhaji Umar Nasko.

“We said it several times that he went as far as donating funds to the opposition party in the state.”
Aliyu had said governors in the north worked against Jonathan in the 2015 election because he reneged on their agreement not to seek another term.
