Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun, has condoled with the people of Ondo and the family of Rotimi Akeredolu over the death of the governor of the state.
Akeredolu died on Wednesday morning at the age of 67.
The governor had been battling leukemia and prostate cancer.
In a statement, Abiodun said Akeredolu had “consistently championed justice and upliftment” of citizens since his days as the chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

The Ogun governor urged residents of Ondo to honour Akeredolu’s legacy by “building upon the strong foundations he laid”.
“Renowned for his tireless dedication to improving the lives of Ondo State residents, Akeredolu spearheaded transformative initiatives that brought about positive change,” the statement reads.
“Under his visionary leadership, the state experienced remarkable advancements in healthcare, infrastructure, and education.

“His unwavering commitment to sustainable development earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues and the people he served.
“As the nation mourns the loss of this remarkable leader, Rotimi Akeredolu’s memory will forever shine as a beacon of hope and inspiration for future generations.
“His legacy, grounded in compassion, justice, and progress, will endure, serving as a constant reminder of the transformative power of determined leadership.”
