The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) has condoled the family of Raymond Dokpesi over the death of the founder of DAAR Communications.
On May 29, Dokpesi died at the age of 71.
Tony Akiotu, group managing director of DAAR Communications, said Dokpesi had been ill for a few weeks before his demise.
Akiotu added that the media mogul had fallen off his treadmill during a routine gym exercise before he was pronounced dead.

Since the death was announced, tributes and eulogies have been pouring in for the late founder of AIT.
In a letter of condolence, Steve Babaeko, the president of AAAN, said Dokpesi “opened the doors for what has become a flourishing media industry”.
He described the deceased as “an inspiration to many young media practitioners” with unimpeachable influence on the industry.

“The late Chief Raymond Dokpesi’s contribution to the media industry in our country will remain indelible,” the letter reads.
“He championed the establishment of independent broadcasting and opened the doors for what has become a flourishing media industry, employing many Nigerians to boot.
“He was an inspiration to many young media practitioners, including many members of our association. We will miss him.”
