The Nigerian police have ordered the redeployment of Abayomi Shogunle, head of the public complaint rapid response unit (PCRRU), to Ebonyi state.
Frank Mba, police spokesman, confirmed the development.
Shogunle, an assistant commissioner of police, was transferred from Lagos to Nkalagu in Ishielu local government area of the south-eastern state.
Shogunle has in recent times made controversial comments on trending issues.

During the rise of killings by trigger-happy police officers, Shogunle asked Nigerians to speak pidgin to them to avoid trouble.
Most recently, he said prostitution is a sin under the two major religions practised in the federal capital territory (FCT). He was commenting on the detention and conviction of some women who were arrested for alleged prostitution at different locations within Abuja.
There are speculations that his transfer might be connected to his controversial statements, though TheCable cannot independently verify this.

Like his comments, his redeployment has got Nigerians talking on Twitter, with many mocking him.
Yomi shogunle should carry all the block he has blocked people on twitter to build a 2bedroom flat in Nkalagu and a road block if the community allows it #EndImpunity #ReformPoliceNG #ENDSars

We might all rejoice at yomi Shogunle's transfer to Nkalagu(and it's a small victory to be celebrated especially if it'll make him shut up) but the truth is public officers need to know that they can loose their jobs when they make statements like that. He should have been fired

Ebonyi welcomes @YomiShogunle to Nkalagu. Please note:
1. Nobody will call you “Buoda Yomi” here.
2. You will not be in the state capital.
3. You will be busy with serious issues and should not have time to mis-yarn on Twitter.
4. Small boys will call you “Punish”, not Police.😂Advertisement— Dr Joe Abah, OON (@DrJoeAbah) May 3, 2019

Ideally Yomi Shogunle should have been fired. His redeployment might give us some catharsis here but if he was so power drunk &condescending right here in public view, I pity the people in Nkalagu where he is off radar. I am not his redeployment is a victory really.

Anyone free today that can join me as we help .@Yomishogunle pack his luggage and see him off to Jabi motor park to be shipped to his new home? Nkalagu can not wait to have him. pic.twitter.com/Tt3GsvUnYi

Dear @YomiShogunle, you have accumulated so many blocks here by your radical way of blocking people. As you may have known, Nkalagu is a land known for its foremost cement industry. Please use your blocks and some cements there to build a better reputation for yourself. pic.twitter.com/P094lR1HJ4
