Headies now ‘clashing’ with Alibaba’s Jan 1st

The two most anticipated entertainment industry events for the week, Alibaba’s January 1st and the 10th edition of The Headies, are now slated for January 1, 2016.

Ace comedian, Alibaba, had the maiden edition of his January 1st show on January 1, 2015, billing the second edition to hold on January 1, 2016.

The Headies which has been around since 2006 has been known to host the revered award ceremony in March, May, October and most recently, December of the year in view.

The 2015 ceremony of the awards, formerly known as Hip Hop World Awards (HHWA), was initially scheduled to hold on December 30, 2015.

“The date has been changed, #TheHeadies is now on January 1st, 2016. #FlipTheScript,” the organisers tweeted via its official account.

The postponement of the awards, which is to be hosted by Kaffy, a multi-talented dancer and Bovi, a leading comedian, would see many artistes, comedians and friends of the entertainment industry held up in a dilemma.

2Face, Olamide, Vector, Iyanya, Adekunle Gold are just a few of numerous acts expected to perform at both events.

Olamide, indigenous rapper and YBNL boss, was nominated in at least eight categories of the 2015 Headies.

The Headies is scheduled to hold at 7pm at Landmark event centre, Lekki Peninsula, while January 1st is set for 4pm at Eko Hotel and Suites.
