Scottish top flight team, Hearts, appear to have won the race to sign Super Eagles defender Juwon Oshaniwa.
The 24-year-old has verbally agreed to join the four-time Scotland champions and was granted a conditional British work permit after his representatives attended a meeting at Hampden on Tuesday.
Oshaniwa has spent the last three seasons playing for FC Ashdod but departed the Israeli side this summer following their relegation from the top division.
With a few technicalities still to be ironed out, though, the player is already looking forward to the challenge.

“I am looking forward to this fresh challenge of playing in the Scottish Premier League now” Oshaniwa told supersport.com.
“I had finished my contract with Ashdod and I allowed my agent to sort out the details with Hearts as soon as they showed interest; it was important that little noise was made until the deal is tied up. It is now and I am excited and looking forward to this fresh challenge.”
The versatile defender, who played all four games for Nigeria at last summer’s World Cup in Brazil, has been brought in to replace Adam Eckersley at left-back but can also be played in central defence.

Oshaniwa, who has reportedly attracted interest from Celtic, Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday in the past, would become the Tynecastle club’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Gavin Reilly, Juanma Delgado and fellow defender Blazej Augustyn.
