Heritage bank has been awarded payment card industry data security standard (PCI DSS) and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification awards for “excellent innovation” in the banking sector.
The PCI DSS is a proprietary information security standard for organisations that handle branded credit cards from the major card schemes including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB.
Ray Kyles, the British deputy high commissioner in Nigeria, who presented the awards on behalf of his government, pledged the support of Britain to Nigeria’s financial institutions.
Kyles commended the bank for “setting a high standard” in the financial industry, saying, “it’s not an easy task”.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Ifie Sekibo, the managing director of the bank, emphasised the place of the bank in the safety of its customers funds.
“We are a service company providing banking service; and we are the best in the class of security of our information systems. It means funds kept with us are safe,” he said.
“This award is a validation of our mission to promote high ethical standards, integrity, and good business practices.”
