Bayo Onanuga, special adviser on information and strategy to President Bola Tinubu, has defended his principal amid reactions over the president’s fall at the Eagles square.

On Wednesday, Tinubu missed his steps and fell while climbing the parade vehicle in Abuja.

The president momentarily lost his footing but quickly regained his balance with support from his aide-de-camp (ADC).

This has drawn a series of reactions from Nigerians, especially on social media.

Reacting in a post on his X page, Onanuga said his principal is not a superman, adding that he is like other human beings.

Onanuga said President Joe Biden of the United States and former President Barack Obama once slipped.

The presidential aide said Tinubu’s slip should not distract Nigerians from the importance of the Democracy Day celebration.

“President Tinubu is not a Superman. He is human like all of us. President Biden has had several slips in the last three years. Even the younger Barack Obama slipped while President,” Onanuga wrote.

“Political leaders are human. Slipping should not detract from the import of Democracy Day celebration.”

On his part, Olusegun Dada, special assistant to Tinubu on social media, insisted that there are no issues with the president.

Dada explained that Tinubu only missed his steps.
