Citizens Unite, a socio-political movement, has called on Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to contest for the 2023 presidency.
Osinbajo has not officially announced his interest to contest for the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking during the unveiling of Citizens Unite in Lagos, on Saturday, Maryam Shettima, convener of the group, described Osinbajo as a charismatic leader who is quick to act.
She stated that the group is concerned with the strategic and intellectual bits of national politics.

“When I was working as a young physiotherapist at the State House clinic in 2012-2013, I had the privilege of coming across various people in leadership positions. I peculiar thing I observed, there is a certain way people in power behave and humility was hardly part of it,” she said.
“Curiously, with Professor Yemi Osinbajo since the campaign in 2015, I knew that PYO was going to be the vice-president with a difference. He had time and a listening ear for ordinary Nigerians that needed a voice.
“A visionary, professional, charismatic, approachable, technocrat, God-fearing, quick to act, bridge builder, compassionate, down to earth family man with an enormous street credibility just as we witnessed with the trader money and even more recently in his visit to Borno state yesterday. I am glad to say that after seven years as the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, these are still the exact qualities most Nigerians know about him.

“Imagine a Nigeria where thoroughbred professionals, academics, intellectuals, loyal politicians and emphatic citizens are at the helm of our national affairs. At Citizens Unite, we concern ourselves with the strategic and intellectual bits of national politics.
“Ladies and gentlemen, fellow Nigerians, it is with great honour that I present to you the man who the cap fits: Mallam, Alhaji, Pastor, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. We Citizens Unite urge PYO to come out and contest for the highest seat of power in our dear country because we believe he has what it takes to usher Nigeria into a new age.”
The group further described the vice-president as a public officer who can think outside the box.
