Hillary Clinton outclasses 4 men to win party debate

Hillary Clinton has once again cleared all doubts regarding her presidential run, as she led four men at the Democratic Party presidential debate organised by CNN.

The wife of former US president, Bill Clinton, who is widely regarded as the Democratic Party front runner, continued her run despite a drop in poll results after the debate.

According to CNN, Clinton remained unflappable throughout the debate, showcasing her political experience and her command of the issues – all the while deftly handling criticism of her flip-flops and displaying a humour that put a more human face to her oft-criticised candidature.

Clinton, who continually referred to herself as “a progressive who likes to get things done,” stood her ground on various issues – from the Pacific Rim trade deal to same-sex marriage.

David Axelrod, the chief strategist for the Obama campaign that trounced Clinton in 2008, said she did “very well” and that her campaign was likely “thrilled with the performance”.

“She was poised she was passionate and she was in command. If I were her campaign, I would be thrilled with what she did tonight,” he said.

She revealed the role she played in the Iraq vote and the how she became Obama’s secretary of state, helping the US make tough choices.

“I recall very well being on a debate stage, I think, about 25 times with then Senator Obama, debating this very issue,” Clinton said.

“After the election, he asked me to become secretary of state. He valued my judgment, and I spent a lot of time with him in the Situation Room, going over some very difficult issues.”

Closest to Clinton was Bernie Sanders, who she accused of shifting stance on gun control, pointing out that Sanders has five times voted against the Brady Bill, which aimed to curtail gun violence.

For Clinton, the debate was more than just the four men on stage, she made a point of going after Republicans – making the case yet again that she’s the best prepared to take on the Republicans at the poll.

Republican front runner, Donald Trump, however took a swipe at the first presidential debate in 2015 that he was not on stage, saying there was no star for the night.

“The hardest thing Clinton has to do is defend her bad decision-making, including Iraq vote, e-mails etc. Sorry, there is no STAR on the stage tonight!” he tweeted.

The debate anchored by CNN’s Anderson Cooper also had Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb, and Lincoln Chafee participate.

  1. There was a star on that stage- Senator Bernie Sanders! His only weakness was foreign policy, in which he can get better. But, to my mind, he clearly beat Hillary Clinton.
