‘Hired beater’ — police arrest dismissed naval officer ‘charging 20k to assault residents’ in Lagos

The Lagos police command says its operatives have arrested Muhammed Tunde, a dismissed naval officer, for charging N20,000 to assault residents in the state.

The police said Tunde, dismissed from the service in 2000, made people believe he was a serving military personnel.

In a statement published on X, Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, on Saturday, said the suspect was arrested while beating up a hotel staff.

Hundeyin added that the prosecution of the dismissed naval officer has commenced.

“Dismissed Nigerian Navy personnel, Muhammed Tunde (dismissed since 2000), making people believe he’s a serving military personnel, charges N20,000 to bring his boys and beat up anybody for you,” Hundeyin said.

“He was apprehended while he and his boys were beating a hotel staff, a job contracted to him by one of the hotel customers who was asked to stop smoking in a ‘no smoking’ area of the hotel.”
