HIV-positive ‘hyena’ arrested for having unprotected sex with girls

Eric Aniva, the Malawian known as the “hyena man” and gets paid to have sex with underage girls and widows, has been arrested.

Aniva, who is from the Nsanje district of southern Malawi, is paid from $4 to $7 (£3 to £5) for each sexual intercourse.

While the elders of the village believe the act is “sexual cleansing”, HIV positive Aniva has now been arrested on the orders of Peter Mutharika, Malawi’s president.

In a statement, the Malawi president’s office, said: “All people involved in this malpractice should be held accountable for subjecting their children and and women to this despicable evil.

“These practices not only cast a shadow on the hard-earned achievements my government has made on issues such as violence and HIV prevention but they also go against a vision of development that seeks to ensure that the youth, and in particular young girls, are able to achieve their full potential.

“Furthermore, these horrific practices although done by a few also tarnish the image of the whole nation of Malawi internationally and bring shame to us all.

“And since Mr Eric Aniva confesses to be HIV positive and that he never uses protection in his evil acts against the innocent girls and women, he should further be investigated for exposing the young girls to contracting HIV and further be charged accordingly.”

As required by tradition in Nsanje, a widow must sleep with a “hyena” before she can bury her husband.

In the same vein, if a woman has an abortion, sexual cleansing is also required; while teenage girls, after their first menstruation, are compelled to have sex over a three-day period.

The three-day sex marathon is to mark their passage from childhood to womanhood.
