Home-based Eagles to play CHAN qualifier in Kano

Nigeria’s home based Super Eagles will camp for their fifth African Nations Championship qualifier in Kano.

The players are expected to face the winner of the playoff game between Benin Republic or Togo.

Sanusi, NFF secretary general, on Wednesday said the Kano state government has given approval for the camping, which will start on Monday, July 24.

“The administration of Governor Umar Ganduje has approved that the Eagles camp in Kano from Monday, July 24 ahead of the first leg of their qualifying fixture against either Benin or Togo, which will be in Cotonou or Lome on August 13.

“The Super Eagles’ delegation will depart for the away match on August 11 and return to Kano to continue camping for the second leg, which will come up on August 19,” Sanusi said.

Togo and Benin Republic played a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their preliminary fixture in Lome at the weekend, with the second leg slated for Sunday at the Stade de L’Amitie in Cotonou.

The winner will host 2014 bronze medallists Nigeria before flying into Kano a week later for the second leg at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
