The entire Ijebuland was lit with pomp and celebration recently as its paramount ruler, the Awujale, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, marked his 90th birthday and 64th Coronation Anniversary with the commissioning of the School of Governance Studies, donated to the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.
The commissioning which also featured the launch of a book entitled, “Reinventing Governance in Nigeria, The Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Model”, was graced by important dignitaries from all walks of life including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governors Dapo Abiodun and Jackson Ademola Adeleke of Ogun and Osun States respectively; past governors of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun.
Meanwhile, total telecommunications services provider, Globacom, which was represented at the event by Mr. Adeniyi Olukoya, felicitated the Awujale, Oba Adetona, on the twin celebration.
Globcom, in a goodwill message to the traditional ruler, prayed for his continued good health, happiness, and prosperity. “Your unwavering dedication to your kingdom and its people serves as an inspiration to us all. Your life is an exemplar of grace and the special mercy of God, and we are proud to be associated with you and everything you stand for”, Glo stated.
The company noted that, for the past 64 years as the paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Adetona had displayed an unprecedented astuteness, outstanding purpose, vision and an unyielding commitment to the cause of his people.
“You have prioritized the well-being and continued unity of your race in an indelible manner. You have been the custodian and preserver of the cultures and traditions of the Ijebu people in ways that have propelled them to global reckoning. Posterity will be kind to you and the values you brought to bear on the cohesion of the Ijebu people all over the world”, Globacom noted.
The company added that the monarch’s wisdom, grace, and leadership qualities had been sources of inspiration to the company and Nigerians at large.
