Hughes: Moses will give us power and pace

Stoke City’s manager, Mark Hughes, is happy to have Victor Moses in his team and he’s backing the winger to shine for the Potters despite his disappointing loan spell with Liverpool last season.

Moses completed his season-long loan from Chelsea over the weekend and could force himself into Hughes’ side that will face Hull City next Sunday.

“We’re pleased we’ve been able to get him in and that’s probably all our business done now,” Hughes told Stoke Sentinel.

“We feel he’s a player that can give us power and give us pace and we’ve probably lacked that a bit. Obviously we were chasing different targets, but they weren’t possible, and to have the option of Victor Moses is great because we didn’t think we would have that opportunity.”

And Hughes now believes that Moses is itching to reignite his career after just half-a-dozen league starts during a poor season with Liverpool last term.

“He hasn’t played a great deal in the last couple of seasons, so he wants to play and he will be given that opportunity. It’s up to him if he takes it and I’m sure he will.

“They (Liverpool) found a way of playing they stuck to and he was left out. I don’t think it was his fault; he just didn’t get back into the team. That can happen when you go to a big club.”
