Some pupils of Army Children Primary School in Delta state, have been crushed to death by a petrol tanker.
Although the number of pupils involved has not been officially confirmed, eyewitnesses said the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon as the pupils were returning home from school.
The tanker is said to have fallen on the pupils near the David Ejoor barracks in Effurun-Warri.
According to unconfirmed reports, some pupils who were injured in the incident are currently receiving treatment at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara.

While passers-by lamented at the scene of the incident, security operatives cordoned off the area and attempted to rescue some of the pupils who were trapped.
Firefighters were also present at the scene of the incident to prevent an explosion.
Bright Edafe, the state police spokesman, while confirming the incident, said six persons were crushed to death, but noted that the number is “tentative”.

According to the spokesman, the whereabouts of the tanker driver is unknown.
