On Tuesday, May 12, the minister of federal capital territory (FCT), Mohammed Musa Bello, inaugurated the 506-bed Idu Isolation and Treatment Centre for COVID-19 patients in Abuja.
Aliyu Modibbo Umar, chairman of the ministerial expert advisory committee, said his team mobilised human, financial and material resources to support the FCT administration in setting up the centre.
The centre is equipped with recreational facilities, including a table tennis equipment, to cater for the mental health of patients.

Umar said the 28-member committee was broken into four sub-committees comprising medical, logistics, resource mobilisation and public affairs and media.
Everyone, including the co-opted volunteers and experts, worked pro-bono.
“Their reward is the pleasure of having to serve Abuja, the city they all love and cherish,” he said.

Bello expressed his appreciation to the companies and individuals that contributed to the project.
