Ideye missing as Mikel, Ighalo lose on Chinese League debut

Nigerian players in the Chinese League failed to help their teams avoid defeat on Saturday.

John Mikel Obi was unable to prevent his team, Tianjin Yeda, from losing as they slumped 0-2 to Shandong Luneng.

Shandong Luneng scored twice in the second half through Binbin Liu and Papiss Cisse to win the game.

Brown Ideye, Obi’s teammate, did not feature in the game.

Tianjin Yeda was also thrashed by Shandon Luneng 5-1 during a pre-season friendly match.

Another Nigerian, Odion Ighalo, saw his team Changchun Yatai get spanked 5-1 by Shenhua SIPG FC.

Although Ighalo played from start to finish, he could not find the back of the net as his team suffered a heavy defeat.
