Ideye seals narrow win at the Hawthorns

Super Eagles forward, Brown Ideye, continued his rich vein of goalscoring form as his first-half header gave West Bromwich Albion all three points against Stoke City the team of compatriot Victor Moses.

Ideye headed home a Craig Gardner cross with less than 20 minutes on the clock at the Hawthorns.

West Brom have now won four of their last five home games as the Baggies continue their gradual ascent on the log.

Arsenal moved to within a point of second-placed Manchester City with a 3-0 victory over West Ham.

Olivier Giroud’s fifth goal in as many games gave the Gunners the lead right on half time. But West Ham failed to capitalise on a period of dominance immediately after the break.

Aaron Ramsey and substitute Mathieu Flamini the struck twice to give Arsenal their eighth win in nine league games.

The visitors went ahead after 16 minutes when Christian Benteke converted Leandro Bacuna’s right wing cross before Gabby Agbonlahor added a second just two minutes later.

Agbonlahor compounded their misery with a third goal on the counter attack. Benteke then scored with a header to make it four before half time as the rejuvenated Villa leapfrogged their opponents in the table.

At the King Power Stadium, Hull City held on to earn a crucial 0-0 draw against Leicester City, despite Tom Huddlestone’s second-half dismissal.
