The Ife Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS), on Sunday, commenced the sixth edition of its summer programme.
The programme, themed ‘The Future of the Academy: Skills for Transformative Pedagogy, Theory, and Practice’, is scheduled to hold from July 24 to August 6.
The event, which will also hold virtually, will feature physical attendees at the Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) hall in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
According to a statement signed by Jacob Olupona, the convener, the two-week event is aimed at “facilitating and fostering innovative research among young scholars” in various choice of studies in humanities, social sciences, as well as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

He said the programme will expose the fellows to training that will equip them on how to handle global challenges.
“The gathering will allow fellows to deepen their knowledge and capacities through workshops, lectures, field trips, peer-sharing, and networking sessions,” the statement reads.
“They will also be trained on how to creatively respond to challenges posed by global needs, issues, and events.

“This year’s IIAS’s summer programme will be anchored by an impressive number of senior scholars from Nigeria and abroad engaging a wide range of themes and issues that are designed to deepen the understanding of research and teaching mission in the academy.”
Olupona said partipiants are expected from Nigeria, USA, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Pakistan, Angola, Algeria, Ghana, Belgium, and Switzerland.
