Ifeanyi Ubah biggest winner but MFM go top of table

Ifeanyi Ubah FC recorded the biggest victory of Sunday in one of the Week Six Nigeria Professional Football League matches played at the weekend, thrashing Ikorodu United 4-1 in Nnewi.

Nico Dao started the onslaught for the home team as early as the 11th minute of the game before adding his and the clubs’ second goal seven minute later off Alberico Da Silva’s cross.

Stephen Nwaiwu’s free kick in the 52nd minute halved the deficit but Okereke Maduabuchi restored Ifeanyi Ubah’s two-goal lead with a deflected effort from range in the 56th minute.

Pascal Seka’s penalty in the 82nd minute made it 4-1 as the home team moved to within three points of MFM FC who currently occupy the top position.

Newly-promoted MFM continued their fine form in the league as they moved top of the league table with a 3-1 defeat of El-Kanemi Warriors.

Stephen Odey put the hosts in front in the 26th minute before departing the field few minutes later due to injury. Julius Emiloju doubled the lead two minutes into the second half.

El-Kanemi pulled one back through Japhet Daniel in the 65th minute but MFM restored their two-goal cushion through Emmanuel Onuwa on 75 minutes.

Niger Tornadoes overcame Rivers United’s spirited second-half fightback to edge their five-goal thriller inside the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.

Tornadoes were cruising to a 3-0 lead before Daniel Israel started the comeback for the visitor in the 77 minutes. Guy Kuemian scored Rivers United’s second goal with 10 minutes to the end of the game but the newly promoted side held on for the crucial three points.

Abia Warriors and Lobi Stars came back from behind to secure a 2-2 home draw against Rangers and Kano Pillars respectively.

Rangers were heading to a crucial away victory before CHAN Eagles striker Chisom Chikatara came to the rescue of his team to secure a 2-2 draw as they continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Raphael Ayagwa was the saviour for Lobi star, securing the crucial equaliser to grant his club a point against former champions, Kano Pillars.

Giwa waited till the last minute of additional time to record a 1-0 victory over Sunshine Stars of Akure with substitute Omotayo Adegbogun scoring the vital goal.
