The asylum request made by Sunday Igboho, Yoruba nation agitator, will be decided this week by authorities of Benin Republic.

Igboho and his wife were arrested at Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou on their way to Germany.

Ropo, the wife, was released after the pair were arraigned before a court in the country, but Igboho remains in custody after extradition hearing on the request of the Nigerian government was stalled.

He had fled Nigeria after his Oyo home was raided by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). Two persons were killed by the DSS in the raid while 12 others were arrested and whisked to Abuja.
