Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has described Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho as a “killer in the box” despite using him sparingly in the last few months.
Amid increasing speculation that the Nigerian may exit the club at the end of the season, Guardiola on Friday gave him a glowing review.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League home clash with Leicester City, Guardiola was full of praise for Iheanacho but failed to confirm whether the forward will be at the club next season.
“Kelechi is a young player – a killer in the box,” Guardiola said.

“He is strong and fast. At the end of the season we will talk about individual players if they’re leaving or staying.”
Iheanacho has played 42 games so far since joining Manchester City, and has scored 12 goals.
Since joining the Citizens, Guardiola has often opted for Sergio Aguero and Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus as his starting strikers.
