Iheanacho joins Middlesborough on loan from Sevilla

Kelechi Iheanacho, Super Eagles forward, has been signed on loan by Middlesborough until the end of the season. 

The Championship club announced the player’s acquisition on its website on Monday evening.

The 28-year-old attacker joined Middlesborough after a tough start to life in Sevilla since moving to the club in August 2024.

Iheanacho made only 11 appearances for the Spanish club and scored three goals in six months at the Ramon Pizjuan Sanchez stadium.

He had penned a two-year deal with the Andalusian club.

The Super Eagles player had arrived in Spain as a free agent after being released by Leicester City following the expiration of his contract in June 2024.

Iheanacho returns to England, where he first broke out as an 18-year-old wunderkind for Manchester City.

He won the League Cup with City before joining Leicester in 2017.

Middlesbrough are currently seventh in the English second division as the club chase promotion to the top flight. Boro have 44 points from 29 matches and just one outside the playoff places.
