Iheanacho scores as Eagles defeat Tanzania

Kelechi Iheanacho, Manchester City striker, came to the rescue of the Super Eagles in their AFCON qualifier against Tanzania on Saturday.

His 78th minute goal was all what the senior team needed to secure their first and only victory in the qualifiers.

Gernot Rohr, the newly-appointed coach, fielded a strong side despite the game being a mere formality, as Egypt has already secured the only slot from the group.

The visitor started the game on a high note stringing several passes together in the first two minutes, but were unable to trouble goal keeper Carl Ikeme.

Odion Ighalo and Victor Moses wasted several chances, and this will be a source of concern to the German coach.

Nigeria was in control of the game from start to finish, with Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi, dictating the pace from the middle, and Ahmed Musa and Moses operating from the wings.
