Abisola Omisore, a chairmanship aspirant in the forthcoming Ikeja local government election, has pledged to expand his scholarship initiative for university students if elected.

As part of his annual education support programme, Omisore has distributed 250 free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms to students within the council.

Speaking at an event in Ikeja, the aspirant, contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said he remains committed to easing the financial burden on parents by covering tuition fees for indigent university students.

Through his foundation, the Abisola Omisore Education Support Initiative, he also assisted beneficiaries in completing the registration process to ensure a seamless application.

Omisore, popularly referred to as ‘Omituntun’ by supporters, emphasised that his dedication to youth development and education predates his political aspirations.

“This has been my annual commitment for years, long before I considered contesting for the council seat. If elected, I will expand these efforts to provide even greater opportunities for the next generation,” he said.

He further announced that three students who achieve the highest UTME scores in 2025 will receive full university scholarships.

“My vision is to use education to combat poverty and empower young people with the skills and knowledge needed to address challenges in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole,” he added.

One of the beneficiaries, Abimbola Agbeniga, an aspiring Economics student at Obafemi Awolowo University, expressed her gratitude, saying the initiative had relieved her of the financial burden of purchasing the UTME form.

“I know Omisore as a passionate advocate for human development, and I am determined to work hard to qualify for the scholarship,” she said.

Omisore assured residents that, if given the mandate, his administration would prioritise education and youth empowerment, promising “better service” for the people of Ikeja.
