Ikuru’s exit the end of APC, says Jonathan’s wife

Patience Jonathan, wife of Nigeria’s president, has described the exit of Tele Ikuru, deputy governor of Rivers state, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the end of the party.

Ikuru declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, branding APC is a party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists.

“APC is a party founded on deception and it thrives on unholy propaganda and falsehood,” he had said.

“I therefore, on behalf of my teaming supporters, and my humble self denounce the APC and we all jointly and severally resign our membership of the APC.”

However, speaking on Monday during a campaign rally of the PDP in Onitsha, Anambra state, the first lady said the opposition party would cease to exist from March 28.

“Imagine the deputy of a whole director-general of the APC presidential campaign decamping, does that not show that the party is dead?” she asked.

“The party is dead and buried and March 28 is its burial. The party will not live again.

She accused the party of lacking originality, therefore frequently changing its name.

“When you start answering old drugs, expired drugs, then you know that your death is coming closer,” she said.

“The way things are going, APC will soon bear Ebola.”

Mrs. Jonathan advised the women not to vote for Muhammadu Buhari, APC presidential candidate, alleging that unlike President Goodluck Jonathan, who has been supportive of people from the southeast, Buhari has been unfair to them.

“Is Mbakwe [former Imo state governor] corrupt? Yet you jailed him. What of Jim Nwobodo [former Anambra state governor]? Yet you jailed him. Don’t support a man that would imprison your mother and father.

“Jonathan is our messiah. He made Ihejiriaka the chief of army staff and has helped many of our people. Igbos are not fools. We know whom to support.  PDP has come to stay.”

  1. Its a lie oh. This is the begining of APC. Burial date for PDP is March 28. First is a postponement. second was an attempted postponement. Time will tell
