Ali Modu Sheriff, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday said “everybody in PDP would be happy” by the time he finishes with the party’s congresses and convention.
Speaking on Monday when the forum of PDP former house of representatives members visited him in Abuja, Sheriff said he would not stay in office beyond the period prescribed by the party’s constitution.
He said as a man of character and integrity, who should live up to expectation and promises, he would carry members along in the party’s forthcoming congresses and convention.
“Under no circumstances would l stay in office beyond the period prescribed by the PDP constitution,” he said.

“In the light of the above, I will announce the convention congress planning committee after due consultation with all organs of the party few days from today.
“I assure all faithful members of the party that I would do everything within my powers to ensure that I complete the processes of congress before the expiration of my time in office.”
Sheriff said that under his watch, the PDP will not be run with impunity.

“I will make sure that nobody imposes people on the generality of the people.
“Whatever I am doing, it has to be in cognisance with the constitution of our party. I will make sure that everybody obeys the rule of the game.
“Very soon, after I make all the consultations and agreement with the national working committee, there will be a congress and convention that will be credible and stand the test of time.”
Earlier, Emeka Ihedioha, former deputy speaker of the house of representatives, who led the delegation said the forum came to show solidarity with the party and congratulate Sheriff.

“We have also come to urge the party to remain strong and focused,” Ihedioha said.
He added that members would continue to be partners in progress with the party and its national leaders.
Ihedioha said the forum believed that the programmes to be rolled out by Sheriff would reposition the party.
