Emmanuel Uduaghan, a former governor of Delta state, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Uduaghan announced his exit from the APC in a tweet on Monday.
“I am back to join forces with other party greats to strengthen our party, the largest Party in Africa -PDP!,” the former governor tweeted.

A statement by Monoyo Edon, media aide to the former governor, noted that Uduaghan “picked up his party card at unit one, ward six, Abigborodo town at 12:15pm on Monday”, where he was received by PDP supporters.
“I left my party card at Abigborodo and I have come back to pick it up. I am back to join forces with other great party men and women to strengthen the PDP. We are the largest party in Africa,” Uduaghan was quoted as saying.
“I went to taste the other side. Politics is all about challenges. We do not pray against the challenges. Rather, we pray for God to give us strength to overcome them.
“It gladdened my heart when my ward chairman said that I and my supporters have returned to fill the void we left. I feel good. This is home. PDP is home.”

Before announcing his decision to return to the PDP, Uduaghan had held meetings with Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta governor, and James Ibori, a former governor of the state.
The former governor rejoined the PDP after two years with the APC.
During his time with the APC, Uduaghan contested for the Delta south senatorial seat but lost to James Manager at the 2019 polls.
While defecting to the APC in August 2018, Uduaghan said he was joining the party “as ‘John the Baptist’ to many Deltans coming”.
