His acceptance speech at the 2016 Independent Spirit awards at Santa Monica beach in United States had made the teenage actor a source of amusement to reporters and critics. He won the Best Male Lead award at the ceremony.

The actor who has already won five awards as a result of his role in the award-winning movie already has a scholarship sponsored by Netflix to study abroad.

“Abraham is relocating to the States. He is going to school over there and this initiative is by Netflix. Netflix has sponsored everything, Abraham now belongs to them,” his manager said in an interview.

He stated that he left Ghollywood because local movies do not pay much and producers are disrespected by actors, a situation he describes as making the local industry unattractive to him.

He made his acting debut in Beasts of No Nation, where he played the lead role of a child soldier Agu. He has received 13 award nominations from that movie alone.
