I’m unaware of plot to remove me, says Amuneke

Golden Eaglets coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, is not aware of any plan by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to replace him as the coach of the Nigeria U-17 team.

After the Golden Eaglets  could only finish fourth at the recently concluded CAF U-17 Championship in Niger Republic it was mooted that the federation were considering bringing the technical crew that won the last U-17 World Cup  – Manu Garba and Nduka Ugbade who are now handling the U-20 side – to lead the country to the next one in Chile.

But it’s all rumour to Amuneke.

“Nobody has said anything of such to me and I have not heard anything like that from the federation,” he told sl10.ng.

“I am just hearing this for the first time, so I can’t really say much about it.”

Despite this, the former Super Eagles winger is looking to strengthen his side.

“We already have a team on ground. What we’re looking for are players that can add more value to what we have and we are reaching out to the Nigerian youths,” he said.

“Since I came back from Niger, I’ve been on the road travelling from one state to the other and hopefully when we are done, we will have players that can live up to expectations.”
