El Kanemi Warriors football club of Maiduguri have appointed Imama Amapakabo as their new head coach.
The duration of Amapakabo’s contract is one year.
Imama takes over from Ladan Bosso who helped the Desert Warriors finish seventh in the Nigeria Professional Football League last season.
The former Enugu Rangers coach was unveiled during an event held in Maiduguri, Borno on Tuesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mohammed Zanna, chairman of the club said the choice of the coach was based on his track record in the league, and that he believes he will help bring success to the club.
“We’ve unveiled our new coach that will help pilot the affairs of the players, after much decision with the management,” Zannah said.
“We all decided that Imama will help bring success to the team and we believe he will be accepted by our fans and well-wishers as we look to bring success to the club, because that is what we want.”

Having masterminded Rangers’ league-winning campaign in the 2015/16 season, Amapakabo will be hoping to replicate the feat with the Maiduguri based team.
