Wura-Ola Adepoju, the comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has announced the promotion of 4,852 personnel in the agency.
Speaking during the decoration of the officers on Tuesday in Abuja, Adepoju said Adedotun Aridegbe, the NIS spokesperson, was among the promoted officers.
The NIS boss said all elevated staffers participated in the 2023 promotion exercise.
Breaking down the figures, Adepoju said 18 comptrollers got promoted to the rank of assistant comptroller-general, 51 deputy comptrollers were promoted to the rank of comptrollers while 43 assistant comptrollers were also elevated to the position of deputy comptrollers.

Adepoju added that 520 chief superintendents were promoted to the rank of assistant comptroller, 634 superintendents moved to the rank of chief superintendent and 426 deputy superintendents of immigration were promoted to the rank of superintendent of immigration.
She said another 1,366 assistant superintendents are now deputy superintendents; 804 assistant superintendents of immigration got promoted to the rank of assistant superintendent, while the remaining 990 inspectors were promoted to assistant superintendents of Immigration
Adepoju hailed Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, interior minister, for his unwavering commitment to staff motivation.

She urged the newly promoted officers to “validate their advancements through heightened dedication and unwavering loyalty to authorities”.
She said her team would continue to contribute significantly to the peace and progress of the country.
