I am passionately Nigerian. I believe very seriously that our problem in this country is not political but economical. As long as we continue to have a centralized control of the economy there will always be a constant struggle for control of that Centre leading to all the tension that has encompassed us.
I am of the firm believe that as soon as we can achieve a decentralization of the controls, democratizing potentials and better harnessing such with concrete and realizable intentions then we will begin to see an ease off on the political side.
It is for this reason that I am looking very closely at the work being done by this gentleman Akintoye Akindele.
‘Africa is my obsession, investing in people and society is my passion’. Those where his first words to me and he has gone ahead to put life into these words by throwing up a stupendously wonderful project all over Africa.
His Unicorn Project has been set up to pragmatically empower about 10,000 very innovative entrepreneurs in Africa. To achieve this, he has set up technology Hubs in Lagos, Accra, Dallas, San Francisco and Johannesburg.

These hubs would offer amongst others Education, Mentoring and Coaching, Market Access, business services amongst others.
To bring all these to fruition, he has built a hub of global experts who serve as advisers using a unique ecosystem approach which engulfs the ‘entrepreneur’ in a seamless wiring involving programs, Campuses, Accelerators and Incubations, advisers and partners both resident and otherwise.
Pushing on five major program structures including the Idea Lab, Hub Launch, Incubator build, Accelerator- Grow and Growth and Scale- dominate, the target is fitted with propulsion to generate significant wealth, redistribute it and better impact society.
With a massive investment footprint in Africa, Unicorn has partnered with influential global partners like General Electric, Oracle, Axis to mention a few to deliver on its mandate.
‘Nation building is a collective responsibility and I will do anything to make Nigeria and Africa great’ he concludes.
If only the rest of us could just believe and change the narrative.
