During a media briefing on Monday, the commissioner said COVID-19 is now circulating within communities in the state.
He said the testing capacity in the state is increasing and that efforts are being made to scale that up in the coming week as the state embarks on active case search within the communities.
He said the state expects to see a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, but expressed optimism that preventive measures in place would contain the spread of the disease.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of the state, also announced that the state would enforce compulsory wearing of face masks as from next week.
