INEC had declared the seat of the Aba north/south federal constituency vacant, following the death of Ossy Prestige on February 8.

The declaration brought a lot of tension as to who will fill in the vacant seat.
During the election on Saturday, voting was disrupted when an explosion occurred at Umuola hall polling unit in ward eight.
Mike Ozoemena, an electoral agent of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, was also reportedly abducted.
