Obo Effanga, resident electoral commissioner (REC) in Bayelsa, says security agencies are aware of areas to intensify protection during Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Speaking in an interview with Arise Television on Thursday, Effanga expressed satisfaction with the level of readiness shown by the security agencies ahead of the election.
He added that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would ensure that voting materials are distributed to the appropriate areas for the election.
“We can only rely on the security agencies to provide adequate security, they are aware of areas they have to intensify policing, which will be required,” he said.

“I am satisfied with the level of professionalism of security agencies in Bayelsa ahead of the election.
“I have also gotten a briefing from one of the assistant commissioners of police who is closely working with us here in INEC about where the personnel are at the moment and what they intend to do further.
“When it comes to election security, the security agencies take care of that and I am sure they know the importance of this election and the importance of security to the election.
