Amina Zakari, a national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has said that the commission would ensure that results of the election are announced within 48 hours after voting is concluded.
Zakari said this in Birnin Kebbi, capital of Kebbi state, on Saturday, during a public sensitisation and practical demonstration of accreditation and election processes.
She said that the demonstration was to enable the commission to make amendments in areas of difficulty.
According to her, the exercise will also enable electoral officers to be familiar with the process of accreditation and smooth election.

She appealed to registered voters to ensure they queue up in time for accreditation, saying that collation of votes would be done properly after voting.
Zakari said that the rescheduling of the election would ensure free, transparent and fair process, adding that the six weeks extension had enabled the commission to perfect the process.
“The commission would treat observations and ensure smooth conduct of the election proper and to avoid hitches and criticisms,” she said.
