The Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria says it will confer Kingsley Moghalu, former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), with the ‘2024 CIOD Nigeria Good Governance’ award.
In a letter dated November 25 and addressed to Moghalu, Dele Alimi, director-general of CIoD, said the award would be presented on December 12.
“I write to inform you that following the nomination received by the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria; the Council has approved the conferment on you of the 2024 “CIOD Nigeria Good Governance Award” by the Institute,” he said.
“This Award would be presented at the CIOD Nigeria Annual Dinner & Award Night, which holds 6 p.m. on Thursday 12th December 2024 at the Civic Center, Ozumba Mbadiwe Victoria Island, Lagos.

Alimi said the CIoD awards are not given to proxies or representatives, noting that as an award recipient, Moghalu is entitled to attend the event “with a guest free of charge”.
Alimi said the prize is awarded to past public officers who have “distinguished themselves while serving in office”.

“It recognizes and celebrates public office holders who have developed their communities, lifted people out of poverty and paved the way for sustainable and equitable prosperity and highlights exceptional role models for the country,” he said.
“The Award is for former public office holders, who have left office for not less than three years and have demonstrated exceptional leadership, financial prudence and accountability, respect for the Rule of Law, effective and efficient administration, transparency (sic) and responsiveness to needs of the governed and ran an equitable and inclusive administration.”
In October, Moghalu was appointed as the first president of the African School of Governance (ASG).
