The Interfaith Dialogue Forum, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has honoured Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, with the “beacon of interfaith peace and unity” award.
Sani received the award on Thursday at the sixth annual inter-faith peace conference held in Kaduna.
The award was to recognise his “outstanding efforts in promoting harmony within the pluralist state”.
Speaking during the ceremony, the governor said Nigeria’s security structure needs to be revamped to meet global standards.

Sani said it is important to establish state police, noting that every governor should have a security outfit under their control.
He said it is crucial to “develop common strategies and operational plans within the six geopolitical zones to combat insecurity, underscoring the importance of establishing command and control centres to coordinate joint efforts against various criminal elements, including terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers”.
Sani called on state governors to collaborate in the areas of infrastructure development, agriculture and poverty alleviation.
