INTERVIEW: Falcons good enough to overcome tough Olympic group, says Oshoala

Asisat Oshoala is one of the best female footballers in the world, scoring 107 goals in 149 appearances over five seasons with Barcelona Femeni.

She excelled in African football and played at the 2015, 2019 and 2023 Women’s World Cups.

Oshoala has been voted African Women’s Footballer of the Year for a record six times  — 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2023.

She is the first African player to win the UEFA Women’s Champions League three times.

Oshoala is also the first African woman to be nominated for Ballon d’Or.

After winning titles in Africa, Europe and Asia, Oshoala is now playing in the US, and she hopes to propel Bay FC to the top of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

In a chat with TheCable, Oshoala spoke about her Olympics dreams, love for Cristiano Ronaldo and why she left Barcelona Femeni for the US.
