Declan Emelumba, Imo state commissioner for information and strategy, has dismissed the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Earlier on Saturday, TheCable reported that IPOB declared a sit-at-home in the south-east on Tuesday, September 13, in solidarity with Nnamdi Kanu, its leader, who is scheduled to appear in court on that day.
The planned sit-at-home falls on the same day President Muhammadu Buhari is billed to visit the state to commission some projects.
IPOB warned residents of Imo state against trooping out to welcome the president.

Commenting at a press conference, Emelumba said the president is free to visit any state in the country.
He said security operatives in the state are prepared for Buhari’s visit.
“Nobody can threaten Buhari. He’s president and commander in chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said,

“Imo is one of the states he governs, and he is free to visit it. Security is in top gear, and I can assure you that his visit will be successful.”
