Isaac Idahosa
Isaac Idahosa has advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct presidential, senatorial, and gubernatorial elections in one day to achieve a better outcome and cut costs.
Idahosa was the vice-presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections.
Speaking on Wednesday during his appearance on The Morning Brief, a programme on Channels Television, Idahosa said appropriate punishment should be meted out to the INEC officials for electoral failures.
“We don’t punish anybody for what he does; there are no consequences, so he keeps on repeating it,” Idahosa said.

“INEC does this, and nobody puts them to check, and then it repeats it. Once there are no consequences for your actions or inactions, then a repeat will occur because there is no accountability.
“We ran the race and found that money politicking has taken over the system. When actions are not taken against such, it keeps reoccurring.
“I would like to suggest that all elections be conducted on the same day— presidential, senatorial, gubernatorial, all on the same day. That will help curb a lot of issues. It will cut costs and produce the desired results.

“But when elections are spread over one or two weeks after the presidential poll, a lot can happen—a bandwagon effect can take place.”
