ISIS threatens to kill Twitter founder

Jack Dorsey, Twitter co-founder, has received a death threat after the social media company blocked Pro-Islamic State (IS/ISIS) accounts on its platform.

On an anonymous website, ISIS wrote: “Your virtual war on us will cause real war on you.” It accompanied the post with Dorsey’s picture in a cross sight of a gun, and urged jihadists across the world to declare a war on Twitter.

According to NBC news, after the beheading of an American journalist, James Foley, Twitter changed its terms of services and vowed to suspend accounts posting “specific threats of violence against others”.

More than 2,800 Pro-ISIS accounts were also created during this period.

Twitter acted like YouTube, which suspends all accounts violating its terms of service.

“You started this failed war. We told you from the beginning it’s not your war, but you didn’t get it and kept closing our accounts on Twitter, but we always come back,” the ISIS post read in part.

“But when our lions [brave men] come and take your breath, you will never come back to life.”

Jim Prosser, Twitter spokesman, confirmed receiving the threat, saying law enforcement agencies had been contacted for further authentication of the threat.

“Our security team is investigating the veracity of these threats with relevant law enforcement officials,” Prosser said.
