‘It clashes with LG delegate elections’ — PDP reschedules NEC meeting to May 10

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has shifted its national executive committee (NEC) meeting earlier scheduled for May 5 to May 10.

The party, in a statement by Samuel Anyanwu, its national secretary, said the earlier date clashed with the local government delegate elections, involving all party members.

Anyanwu said the meeting was scheduled to take place at the national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The issue of zoning its 2023 presidential ticket will be discussed at the meeting.

On March 24, the party set up a 37-member zoning committee, led by Samuel Ortom, Benue governor, to decide on whether or not to adopt zoning.

The panel sent its recommendations to the national executive committee of the party for further action.

The PDP national working committee (NWC) also rescheduled the screening appeal for governorship and presidential hopefuls from May 3 to May 4.

The party, in a separate statement by Debo Ologunagba, its national publicity secretary, said the adjustment in date was occasioned by the Eid-Fitir celebrations.

He added that “all inconveniences were regretted”.
