The Civil Society Network Against Corruption (CSNAC) says it will be unjust if Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), is allowed to write the report of the presidential panel set up to investigate Ibrahim Magu, suspended acting chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The group, in a statement on Wednesday, said it was worried by a report which alleged that Malami has constituted an in-house committee to write a report which would be adopted by the Ayo Salami-led panel and submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to CSNAC, Nigerians and the international community are closely monitoring the probe and will not accept such a report.
“We are deeply concerned about the need for a transparent probe by the presidential panel set up by the federal government,” Olanrewaju Suraju, CSNAC chairman, said.

“We are worried about reports that the attorney general and minister of justice, Malami has set up an in-house committee to write the report. This will be most unjust.
“From the beginning, we have expressed worry about the trial. It has taken more than two months, but the report is yet to be released.
“It should have been a public trial, but the proceedings were manipulated. Malami, who is the chief witness failed to attend the trial where he should have backed up his claims.”

The group asked Malami to respond to the allegations.
Magu has been in the news since his arrest by a combined team of Department of State Services (DSS) operatives and officers from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in July.
He was accused of mismanaging assets recovered by the EFCC which he oversaw for more than four years.
The interim report of the Salami-led panel had indicted him and recommended his sack to President Muhammadu Buhari.
